Pinerolo is located near the valleys of Chisone and Pellice, sheltered by the hills that surround it.

Pinerolo was a major center of trade since it is located along the roads that connect to France.

In 1500 it suffered the occupation of France, who turned it into an impregnable fortress by the imposing walls that surrounds it, then destroyed by the French themselves.

The Cathedral was built in the eleventh century and rebuilt, the original structure remain the port and the unfinished tower.
It is also worthwhile to visit the church of San Maurizio home late Gothic frescoes dating from the fifteenth century.
The old town is full of medieval houses, the most important of which is the home of the Senate that today houses the Museo Civico.
